What do you do?
I do many things, but predominantly I am a web designer, who conjures up nice looking and simple sites for individuals, start-ups and small businesses. Other than that I deal in original film and travel posters and run a small contemporary art space called 'The Crate'.

How much does it cost?
There are quite a few factors that are going to affect the ultimate cost of your web site. These factors include how many pages you are going to have, if you will sell products on your website, the graphic work involved, and how interactive your future web site will be. You will also need web hosting and domain name registration.

Who do you usually work for?
Up till the present, the majority of my clients have been individuals, start-ups and small businesses looking for their first online presence. These vary from artists to antique dealers to jewellery designers. I have developed a niche for portfolio-based sites advertising the arts.

What do I have to do or supply to have my website created?
You will need to supply any relevant text or photographs. It is assumed that this is the way you would want it to be. I can improvise if you like, but don't go mad if you find utterly irrelevant content. On a more serious note, the speed with which your site is finished depends largely on the speed with which you send me information and files.

How long does it take to have a web site designed?
The timescale of a website design project is often dictated by the client. If you have a deadline in mind we will endeavour to meet it for you. The most common delay in the creation and completion of a new website is waiting for content (text/images) to be sent to us by the client.

What about maintaining my web site once it is live?
I fully support any website I design and am always available should you encounter any problems or require any enhancements. I offer website maintenance so that your website need never get out of date.

Can I update my own web site?
There are many different methods which can be used to update websites. The method you choose and the functionality I build into your website design is solely up to yourself although of course I will be glad to advise you which method will suit your needs. If you have a small website consisting of just a few pages and will only wish to make changes very infrequently, then usually it is more cost effective simply to ask me to carry out these changes for you. Other methods which are frequently chosen are largely dependant upon how much data or information and pictures you have and how you store this information at present. I can provide an online content management system where you can either update individual products/pages/services or particular sections of your website. e.g. company news.

What is hosting?
Web hosting is a monthly fee that you pay to have your site accessible on the Internet. I do not personally offer that service but could strongly recommend a few companies.

What is a domain name?
A domain name is a specific web site address that you choose and register with Network Solutions(the official registrar of domain names ending in .com, .edu, and .gov). My domain name is tekkstyle.com.

What do you do if a project requires something not in your skill set?
If a project should require something that I can not do as well as the project requires I tend to farm that piece of work out to other individuals or agencies, this is always done in a transparent manner, and I do not add extra money on the top of their quote and pass that on. I will also give the client the option of either managing the relationship themselves or I will manage the relationship on your behalf (At an arranged fee.)

Can I get e-mail with my website?
Yes you can have as many emails as you like for your site, eg. sales@your-domain.com, info@your-domain.com, john.smith@your-domain.com

Yes, I always design websites to be as search engine friendly as possible.

How can I accept credit cards on my website?
There are various methods availably to you. We would need to talk to you to establish your requirements and the best method for your company. There are essentially two main methods of accepting credit cards. The first method is where you use your own pdq. card machine and process the card payment yourself and the second method uses an online clearance company. Once you are sure which method you wish to use, we can design your website accordingly. Quite often clients are happy to use a Paypal-driven tool called Payments Standard that allows transactions to be made smoothly without any subscriptions and hence saves a considerable amount of money.

What is your payment plan for website design?
Usually jobs can be finished quickly so I will send an invoice when the work is finished documenting exactly how many hours I spent on the site. If your job lasts longer, I shall invoice on a monthly basis until work is completed. This also applies if I am maintaining your site throughout the year.
